Following the recent match, Gasperini criticized Lookman for taking a penalty that he believed should not have been taken by him. In response, Lookman expressed his disappointment on social media regarding the misunderstanding. The upcoming meeting aims to clarify each party’s perspective and to prevent further controversy from arising.

After the match, Gasperini did not hold back in his comments: “He should not have taken the penalty; he is one of the worst penalty takers I have ever seen. The designated penalty takers were De Ketelaere and Retegui. However, Lookman was euphoric, which led to this incident. We could have faced repercussions with someone else, but it was not a nice gesture.”

In his lengthy social media post, Lookman stated: “It saddens me to have to write this statement on a day like this, especially considering what we have achieved together as a team and as a city. To be singled out in this way not only hurts but feels deeply disrespectful, especially given the immense hard work and commitment I put in every day to help bring success to this club and the incredible fans of Bergamo.”
