The President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida, on Wednesday, paid a goodwill visit to the D’Tigers’ training camp in Abuja as the team intensifies preparations for the third window of the Afrobasket Qualifiers set to take place in Tripoli, Libya.
Kida was warmly received by the players, who expressed excitement over his visit. Addressing the team, he commended their dedication and assured them of the NBBF’s continuous support in their quest to secure qualification. Encouraging the players—who were scouted from the Nigerian basketball league—to give their best, Kida emphasized that there is no distinction between them and their foreign-based counterparts who will join the squad in Tripoli. He urged the team to remain focused and committed to making Nigeria proud on the international stage.
“The good people of Nigeria are solidly behind you,” Kida reassured, motivating the players to put in their maximum effort ahead of the crucial qualifiers.
D’Tigers, under the guidance of head coach Abdulrahman Mohammed, are scheduled to depart for Libya on February 16.
The team will be reinforced by foreign-based players as they aim to secure an Afrobasket ticket in what has been described as a decisive tournament for Nigeria’s basketball aspirations.
