Rotary Club of Lagos Festac Cosmopolitan, on Monday, donated birth delivery kits to pregnant women at Agboju Health Centre, in Oriade Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.
About 20 women who attended antenatal care received a bag each containing such delivery kits as cord clamp, cotton wool, sanitary pads, surgical gloves, razor blades, scalpel blades, mucus extractor, delivery towels and Chlorxy-G gel.
Addressing the women, Ik Ugwu told them that what the members of the club had done was just giving a token to show their little support and care for the safe delivery of the women, as well as the safety of their babies.
He said: “We are giving you a mother care bag and each of the bags contains cord clamp, cotton wools, sanitary pads, surgical blades, razor blades, scalpel blade, surgical gloves, mucus extractor and five pieces of delivery towel, as well as chlorxy-g gel.
“We are concerned about your safe delivery and the safety of your babies. We are wishing and praying with you for a safe delivery for you and your babies. This is just a token but we want you to know that there are people who care for others. We not only care for you, but we are also ready to give you a helping hand.”
He noted that apart from the safe birth kits to the pregnant women, the health centre equally received 30 rolls of trash bags from the Club. He promised that the Club would be visiting the health centre from time to time for other humanitarian works.
Responding, the nursing officer in charge of the health centre, Mrs Aiyedogban Elizabeth, thanked members of the Club for the gesture and urged them to continue with the good works.
She said: “We are very happy and we thank you for this gesture. We really appreciate what you have given to us, especially in these hard times, when most women find it very difficult to get these birth delivery kits.
“All the items are very useful for delivery and we thank you for that. We pray that God will replenish your purse. We will also be expecting more from you.”
