The promoters and sponsors of Spires 5-Aside Naira Street Soccer tournament has disclosed that it’s not only about competition for cash prices but a platform for positivity, empowerment and opportunity.

Dr Femi Bankole, the CEO of Spires Media, said in Lagos yesterday that the organisation aims to steer youth away from negative influences and towards a path of self-improvement and achievement.

“The Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer Tournament has been designed to create a new standard in youth empowerment, human capital development and fostering teamwork, physical fitness and social inclusion at the community level for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to come together, compete and connect,” he said.

According to Bankole, the maiden edition of the tournament would kick off with the round of 16 on November 9.

He added that the tournament is dedicated to using football as a tool for social good. “Looking ahead, we expect the tournament to become an annual breeding ground for future stars on the international stage. We envision nurturing raw talent into world-class athletes, elevating Nigeria’s football culture and uniting communities through the game.”
