A stern supporter of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State in Boripe Local Government,Yusuf Falilat, has faulted the process of selecting the candidates of People Democratic Party (PDP) for the local government elections coming in February 2024.
Falilat who is the Chief Executive Officer of the popular balm, ‘Ero Arike,’ said the party was unfair to her for refusing to give her husband the ticket of the local government.
In a widely circulated video posted on her Facebook page on Thursday, Falilat wailing on ground and calling on people of the state to stand with her and ensure that his husband is given his due in the party.
Falilat stressed that she did not deserved to be treated badly despite the huge amount she expended on the PDP in the state, particularly in her Local Government.
Another person, Olalekan Olawole, a PDP ex-officio in Ife East Local Government, lamented that there is an attempt by a leader of the party in the area to kill him.
In a video circulated on social media, Olawole who is also contesting for the local government chairmanship position, recorded the video in Moore police station where he said he was taking refuge.
Reacting to the protests in some quarters of the state over the selection of chairmanship candidates, the PDP spokesperson, Oladele Olabimiji, described the protests as normal thing in politics.
He said, “For us in PDP, all these hullabaloo, all those crisis you hear, you see around is a normal thing. This is a kind of season you hear things like that about political activities when people are looking for one position to the other especially elective positions during party primaries like we are about to have on the 17th and on the 19th, everybody will begin to agitate.
“So it is to me what I can call agitation period. The use of social media these days, some people feel like if I go to the social media, my voice will be more heard.
“Some people want to force the hands of the party system to their own bidding kind of. There’s no how hard the party can try to appeal to people, you still see some people trying to force the hand of the party to perhaps do their bidding. That is just the case,” Olabamiji said.
