Kano, Nigeria — Anxiety grips Kano residents as the reinstated Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi II, is set to lead the two-rakat congregational Friday prayers today at the Emir’s Palace Mosque. This announcement was made in a statement signed by the Danburan of Kano on Thursday evening.
The statement invites residents to attend and listen to the sermon to be delivered by Emir Sanusi. Concurrently, another statement from an aide of the deposed Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, also invites residents to join the Jumu’at prayer at the Emir’s Palace Mosque, noting that the procession to the mosque will begin at 12:30 PM.
Despite the public anticipation, police authorities have yet to comment on measures to ensure law and order during the event. Efforts to reach the Public Relations Officer of the Kano Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna, were unsuccessful as his mobile phone was unreachable.
As the city braces for this significant event, residents remain on edge, hoping for a peaceful and orderly gathering.
