Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has expressed disappointment at the performance of the state Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB), and the  Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA).

A statement by Sanusi Tofa, spokesperson to the governor, expressed regrets at the performance of the agencies despite the huge investments and equipment procured for them

He also objected to the engagement of workers by REMASAB in casual capacity, describing the recruitment system as inhuman, especially as some of the workers have been so engaged in the past 20 years.

His objection followed a briefing at REMASAB to the effect that the agency had only 10 permanent and pensionable staff while the rest of the workers were casuals.

While at KAROTA head office, the governor discovered that a significant number of their operational vehicles were grounded and hence directed their management to immediately submit a comprehensive inventory of their operational vehicles.

Both the Managing Directors of REMASAB and KAROTO, Amadu Zago and Faisal Mahmoud respectively were directed to report to the chief of staff to the governor for an emergency meeting on how to address the challenges before them.
