Abuja’s City Stars Basketball Club clinched victory and emerged as champions in the Fifth Edition of the Andoma Peace and Unity Youth Basketball Tournament held in Lafia.
The intense five-day competition took place within the confines of the Lafia Sport Arena Basketball Court.
The male finals witnessed an exhilarating showdown as City Stars Basketball Club triumphed over Solid Heat Basketball Club of Lafia with a commanding score of fifty-two to forty-three points, securing the tournament title. In a parallel display of talent, Titans Basketball Club of Abuja claimed victory in the female category.
The tournament showcased the competitive prowess of twelve teams from the North Central zone, featuring eight male and four female clubs.
Post-event interviews captured the sentiments of key figures, including Tijani, Chairman of the State Basketball Association, expressing satisfaction with the event’s success. Hajara Dan Yaro, a member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, and Mr. Adamu, the NBBF Referee North Central representative, also shared their thoughts and perspectives on the tournament’s significance.
The tournament not only highlighted exceptional basketball skills but also emphasised the spirit of unity and camaraderie among the participating teams. The event served as a platform for nurturing talent and promoting peace through sports within the region.
