The pastor in charge of the First Baptist Church, Ahmadu Bello Way, Kaduna, Dr Banjo Ajao, has called on the political class especially those that are currently occupying public offices not to add to the country’s problem but rather be problem solvers.

He specifically called on the policymakers to ensure their policies and programmes of government have human face believing that only then Nigerians irrespective of their social status can feel the dividend of democracy.

He urged the political class to emulate the likes of the late Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikiwe and Ahmadu Bello who put people first in their political calculations during their lifetime.

He said: “Let your policies have a human face because the government is all about people.

“God has chosen you to govern His people. God has shown you mercy. It is natural for you to extend that mercy to the people you are leading because no condition is permanent. Whether single or two terms, power is transient and that is our political elites should be problem solvers when they are in power.

“The late Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello all served the people they led. God has sustained us as a country in the past decades. We pray God put His fear in the heart of our leaders”, he prayed.

The man of God then urged Nigerians to play their part, “we people should do what we should do to encourage our leaders. For example, we should pay our taxes for the economic growth of this Country.

“As a church in Nigeria, we should pray for our spiritual and physical leaders. I pray there shall be peace, protection, security, jobs and Nigeria shall prosper in all its endeavours. Let us do all things with humility,” he added.
