Governor Udom Emmanuel is hopeful that Akwa Ibom State will produce 40 percent of national football team players in the nearest future.
The Akwa Ibom State governor was optimistic he commissioned the Remodeled Uyo Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
“Today I stand tall and proud to say that this is one area that we have made a lot of legacies. We have so many Haalands here but the problem is facility. So, today we are rising up to the occasion that we can produce the likes of Lionel Messi, Haaland Samuel Chukwueze
“It will take to a time where every national team cluster, minimum of 40 to 50 percentage of those that will be in the national camp will be Akwa Ibomites. We are providing the best facilities for our people to excel.”
The remodeled Uyo Stadium is synthetic turf with 15,000 seating capacity. The former base of Akwa United also has an Olympic sized swimming pool facility.
