Canada is fast becoming a destination of choice for many Nigerians, and there are many Nigerians who are hoisting the flag of the country across various industries in Canada. One of such personalities is Patricia Bebia Mawa, the Executive Vice President of Silvertrust Media and Afroglobal Television, the largest Black-owned media organisation in Canada. This proudly Nigerian lady is one of the key figures shaping modern media in the North American nation. As the host of Planet Africa, the longest lasting show of its kind in Canada on OMNI TV, Patricia has not only inspiring and entertaining people –but also holds others, including corporations, accountable.

Prior to migrating to Canada nearly two decades ago, Patricia has had her feet firmly rooted in the Nigerian broadcast space as she was a top show host on DBN Television in Lagos, Nigeria. Her career in television started at NTA Calabar as host of Sweltyme’s Gospel Music Therapy. But Patricia has so far come a long way as she is now listed in the Who’s Who in Black Canada. The writer and director of Afroglobal Television’s new drama series ‘Omobella Palace’ is a recipient of the Toronto Police Community Service Award, the International Women Achievers Award, the BPPA Harry Jerome Award, York Regional Police’s Civic Leadership Award, the Reelworld Visionary Award, the Martin Luther King DreamKeeper Award and a Queen Elizabeth’s 11 Diamond Jubilee Medal. She is named as one of 100 Accomplished Black Women by 100ABC Women. In 2020 Patricia was appointed chair of the Reelworld Screen Institute and in 2021 and to the Advisory board of Trebas College, part of the World University System.
