Ogun State Police Command said it arrested over 91 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and cultists in the last two months. Former state Commissioner of Police, Mr Frank Mba, now Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), he was able to reorganise the state security apparatus and strategy.

He said: “The command’s intelligence system was reactivated to ensure that crimes were nipped in the bud. Violent crime such as kidnapping, banditry and cultism, have been adequately checked in Ogun State. 

“In the last two months, the people of the state testified to the alertness and promptness of the police in responding to distress call, yielding good result at the end of the day. With the wealth of experience to bear with, we are winning the public trust and the support of the people. There is an improved relation and collaboration between the police and the public.

“The last elections in Ogun State held successfully. The security structure in place ensured adequate protection for the voters and every state actor in the electioneering process.

“Also, my vision and mission in Ogun State was to take care of people’s welfare. The welfare of my officers was my priority, especially the rank and files, who are on the fields day and  night fighting criminals in their various hideouts. I needed to appreciate them all the time.

“During the general elections, most of the junior ranks were deployed to on election duty. We took care of their meal and other conveniences.

“I was able to bring a new look to the command’s headquarters. From its long abandoned and dilapidated form to a modern and comfortable space. 

“The first phase of renovation was completed within the first weeks of my arrival to the command. We have a 60KVA generator and standby 10 KVA generator to ease delayed work pace arising from the erratic power supply to the command.

“I am going to consolidate on the achievements of my predecessors while bringing in fresh initiatives towards improving public safety and security in the state.

“My effective deployment of operational assets was through my professional crime management recommended to and got to the approval of the Inspector General of the police for deployment of additional vehicles and other equipment to boost crime fighting  in the state. The command now has additional Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), water carton among critical operational equipment.”
