Founder/General Overseer of World Evangelism Bible Church Incorporated, Prophet Samson Ayorinde, on Easter Sunday held an interactive session with newsmen in his office. He spoke on issues such as the significance of the death and resurrection of Jesus, advice for the incoming federal administration, economy and his church.
What does Easter teaches mankind, especially Nigerians about Christ?
We appreciate God for giving us his only begotten son, Jesus, who was crucified over 2000 years ago. The Passion Week started with the triumphant entry when Jesus rode on an ass into Jerusalem on a Sunday. People lined up the road with palm fronts and garments, singing Hossanah to the King of Kings. After that event, the Pharisees arrested him, slammed some charges of treason against him. Jesus thought us lessons of sacrifice, humility and love. He died for you and me and by his death and resurrection, he reconciled us to his father in heaven and never to die again. He brought the benefit of forgiveness of our sins which he washed away with his blood. Also, by his death he brought salvation of our souls and healing
You were one of those that predicted that the 2023 election would hold and that Tinubu, teh APC candidate would win. Now that he has been declared president-elect, what advice do you have for him?
Remember he was governor in Lagos State for eight years. I believe he will bring his wealth of experience to bear on governance of the country. I expect him to turn Nigeria’s destiny around. Tinubu should be President for all Nigerians. He will unite the citizens as he did in the entire South West. His government should revive our economy, open the borders, improve farming, create new relationship with the rest of the world and make perennial fuel shortages a thing of the past. There should be emphasis on creating jobs especially for youths to stop tension among them. The incoming government should also work on the epileptic power supply. Roads and other key infrastructure should be a priority. Nigerians should bear with the incoming administration as it tries to turn things around. The idea of solar power to complement the energy should be explored as well
There are grievances arising from the general elections. What should the incoming government do?
The government ought to show love to the aggrieved so that the country can move forward. Those who are bitter should forgive. After all, this is our country.
Let’s talk about your church, WEBIC. What does the church have for Nigerians this year?
We have done a lot this year and more are coming. For instance, we have organised three combined Holy Ghost services. In February, I invited a deliverance minister who led my members in prayers to demolish seven evil altars of poverty, stagnation, household wickedness, failure and barrenness. The service was awesome. The fourth service will hold in July. Members must attend the service fasting. In July, our women will hold a thanksgiving service to round off this year’s Achievers Congress. Our men are holding their anniversary later in the year
Also, another ‘Sekere’ Sunday and ‘White Sunday’ tagged Day of Pentecost will hold in May. Service on that day is basically to praise God with the ‘Sekere’, a musical instrument. We will also use the occasion to pray for the nation as the new administration will be inaugurated next day, May 29. Admissions into our Bible School is in progress. We have online lectures. Most likely we are going to ordain some ministers this year. This would happen after our students are through with their programme. Our multi-million naira new auditorium will be completed this year. It is much bigger than the one we are using now. We are having Mantle (convention) this year. It is a service when all members from all the branches converge on the church headquarters for its anniversary.
