Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria,(CAN), Benue state chapter, Rev Akpen Leva, has urged Nigerians to pray for peace of the nation even as they celebrate the Christmas and New Year period.
Akpen Leva who stated this while speaking to newsmen as part of his Christmas message also urged good spirited Nigerians, especially those in Benue, to visit and celebrate with those living at the Internally Displaced Persons, (IDPs), camps in the state.
Rev. Leva who noted that the church in Benue state have embarked on prayers, said, “Already as a church, we have organized a festival praying to God for peace in the nation and so as we celebrate Christmas, let us be prayerful while celebrating it, sharing gifts and praying for the less privileged.
“As we celebrate the season, we should bear in mind that there are less privileged people among us and we need to pray for them. And we should know that God is in control and He will bring peace in this nation as He is called the Prince of Peace.
The CAN Chairman also call on good spirited individuals to extend hands of fellowship to the IDPs and to those living in pain and poverty.
“They need our assistance. As we celebrate Christmas, we need to touch lives.
“Go to the IDP camps, if you eat a plate of rice, share with it with them, they will love it and they will pray for you. There are those who are behind your house, your drivers, your servants, those in your church and your neighbourhood, reach out to them.
“Christmas is all about giving. This is the actual message of Christmas, touching those that are in need.
The CAN Chairman also encouraged Nigerians not to entertain fears concerning the 2023 election saying the election will not only hold but that God will make everything successful.
“Christmas of 2022 is by the corner and as a matter of fact, many people are apprehensive. Some are entertaining fears that election may not hold or things will happen that this country will be in disarray.
“I want to assure all Christians in Benue and in Nigeria that God himself is going to restore peace in Nigeria and restore success in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
“Do not be apprehensive that 2023 election will not hold. Let us not be afraid. Jesus is on the throne and is fully in control and He will make everything possible in this nation and for humanity,” he said.
