Another batch of 65 Nigerians will be evacuated from South Africa on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in an exercise sponsored by public-spirited private individuals.
Outgoing spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday.
The returnees are scheduled to depart O.R. Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, at 3.30pm local time aboard a South African Airways flight and arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, at 8.45pm the same day.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that another set of 65 Nigerian nationals sponsored by private individuals will depart the Oliver Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa, tomorrow, Wednesday, 26th August 2026, at 3.30pm local time via South African Airways. “The expected time of arrival of the returnees at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, is 8.45pm in the evening same day,” Ebienfa said.
Wednesday’s evacuation comes weeks after public-spirited private individuals sponsored the return of another 83 Nigerians from South Africa earlier this month.
The latest exercise will bring to 148 the number of Nigerians evacuated from South Africa this month through privately sponsored arrangements.
According to the ministry, the arrival of the 65 returnees will also raise the cumulative number of Nigerians successfully evacuated from South Africa to 1,638.
