5th Racing 10s Rugby Tournament returns on August 2 in Lagos

The fifth edition of the Racing 10s Rugby Tournament is set to take place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

Organised by Racing Rugby Football Club, the annual tournament continues to grow in stature as it celebrates the unity, passion, and development of rugby in Nigeria. This year’s edition will feature competitions in the 7s and 15s formats, drawing male, female, academy, and veteran teams from across the country.

Among the participating clubs are prominent sides such as Police Rugby, Cowrie Rugby, Kings Rugby, Warri Rugby, AJ Sharks, and hosts Racing RFC. Teams from Edo State will also be in attendance. The women’s division includes Cowrie Female, AJ Sharks 1 & 2, and Edo Female, while the academy segment will feature Wolverines Rugby Academy and Racing Academy. In the veterans’ category, Frank Johnson returns alongside newcomers Team Suraju.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, Racing RFC manager Emmanuel Ayewe said the event aims to go beyond competitive play by inspiring the next generation of rugby players, strengthening community bonds, and promoting the values of fair play in line with World Rugby standards.

The tournament is being held in partnership with the Nigerian Rugby Referee Association.
