Augustine University, a Catholic institution, is set to inaugurate the Billionaire business Mogul, Femi Otedola as its new Chancellor, Mr Femi Otedola during its forthcoming 5th Convocation Ceremony on Thursday.
According to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Christopher Odetunde, the institution will also graduate 56 graduants on its 5th Convocation scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
Prof. Odetunde, who stated this on Monday during a press briefing at the Augustine University Senate Chambers also lined up activities for the 5th Convocation of the institution in Epe, Lagos state.
He said the university would actively seek out partnerships with artisans and issue certifications for practical skills. Moreover, a dedicated Center for Human Development would also be established to facilitate this transition towards a more holistic and hands-on education system.
While speaking on other activities for the week, the VC said the convocation program included the presentation of diploma certificates to 35 graduands of the St. Gregory School of Music, an institution affiliated with Augustine University and the official awarding of first degrees certificates.
According to a statement by the institution, among the graduands, there were 56 students with first-class honors, 9 with second-class upper division, 24 with second-class lower division, and 2 with third-class degrees.
“One standout graduate was Kehinde Ogunbanwo, who emerged as the overall best graduating student and valedictorian with 4.86 CGPA. Additionally, Onosen Okhidievbie from the Department of Philosophy secured an outstanding 4.76 CGPA, and Paul Edim from the Department of Computer Science with 4.49 CGPA.
“The highlight of the event would be a thought-provoking lecture titled “The Law, the Youth, Morality, and Contemporary Nigerian Society,” to be delivered by Professor Mike Ozekhome, a distinguished legal scholar.
“Beyond the academic proceedings, the convocation ceremony was packed with activities, including an interactive sports session, a food fiesta, a night of praise, and an orchestra performance, all scheduled for Tuesday, October 24,” the statement reads.
