From Isaac Anumihe, Abuja

Ahead of Christmas and   New Year festivities, Commandant General (CG), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Professor Ahmed Abubakar, has ordered the deployment of over 55,000 operatives nationwide to safeguard government critical national assets and infrastructure and protect life and prosperity of the citizens before, during, and after the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The NSCDC boss hinted that the deployment was necessary to enhance the security architecture of the nation, as criminal-minded persons utilise festive periods to carry out their sinister and unscrupulous activities.

The CG emphasised that security threats like banditry, kidnapping, farmer-herder clashes, terrorism, and insurgency would be effectively tackled if the citizens imbibe the habit of giving credible and sustained intelligence that would lead to the arrests of those who have conducted themselves as threats to the nation’s security.

Audi directed all zonal commanders to monitor the commands under their formations, while state commandants are to co-ordinate the Area Commands, Divisional office, and other formations.

The deployment involves both covert and overt witnessed full mobilisation of the entire personnel aimed at providing maximum human security and protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.

The NSCDC helmsman explained, that is imperative for members of the public to trust and collaborate with us by giving us credible and timely information to enable us act swiftly in order to prevent crimes rather than being reactive.

“Our unwavering commitment is to ensure a safe and secure environment, and that can only be possible when there is public support for security agencies.

“We assure you of our readiness to work in synergy with sister security agencies to ensure safety and peace for development to thrive.”the SG, yesterday.
