The Coalition of Ogun State Students and Youths (COSSY) has felicitated with the government and people of Ogun State as the state marked its golden jubilee on February 3, 2026.
This is contained in a statement signed by National Convener of COSSY, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman and sent to Daily Sun.
The coalition, representing the dynamic voices of young people across the “Gateway State,” described the milestone as “a moment of deep reflection, pride, and renewed hope.”
The coalition highlighted the state’s impressive evolution over the past half-century, noting, “It is indeed overwhelming to witness the remarkable journey of Ogun State over the past 50 years; its resilience, industrial growth, educational advancement, cultural heritage, and the unrelenting spirit of its people.”
COSSY praised the state’s longstanding reputation as “a hub of intellectual excellence, economic innovation, and progressive governance.”
It pointed out that the state has nurtured “outstanding leaders, scholars, athletes, entrepreneurs, and professionals who have contributed immensely to national development and global competitiveness.”

The coalition also commended the efforts of past and present administrations, along with the state’s indigenes, for their “collective efforts in building a state anchored on development, peace, progress, and opportunity”.
It also acknowledged the strategic and progressive role of youths and students as drivers of innovation, civic engagement, and sustainable progress in the Ogun State project.
Looking ahead, COSSY expressed enthusiasm for the next chapter, envisioning “a more prosperous, inclusive, and progressive future in the next 50 years. One where youth participation is strengthened, education is further prioritised, governance is students-youths friendly and development remains people-centered.”
The statement reads, “As the Gateway State clocks 50, COSSY looks forward with optimism to a more prosperous, inclusive, and progressive future in the next 50 years.
