Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have arrested two suspected kidnappers and rescued a five-year-old girl unhurt, days after she was abducted from her home in Ibadan.
According to a Tuesday statement signed by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the victim, Miss Fikayo Gbemiga, was abducted on July 3, 2026, from her residence in the Iyana Offa area of Ibadan.
Following an intelligence-led operation, the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad traced the suspects to their hideout in the Mojoyin Molade area of Iwo Road.
On at about 10:30 p.m. on July 11 operatives arrested the two principal suspects, Adegboye Seyi Sunday, 37, and Adegboye Elijah Adefemi, 25.
The child was rescued unhurt at about 10:35 p.m. before she could be relocated.

Ayanlade said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects forcefully gained access to the complainant’s home, took the child, and demanded a ransom of ₦10 million.
The command spokesman disclosed that the suspects had earlier collected ₦1 million from the victim’s family on July 8 in Gbongan, Osun State, during ransom negotiations.
“The suspects are currently cooperating with investigators, while efforts are ongoing to recover the ransom already collected and apprehend other members of the criminal syndicate who remain at large,” the statement reads.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tackling kidnapping through intelligence-led policing and public collaboration.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information to the police, assuring them that every useful intelligence would be treated with utmost confidentiality and acted upon promptly.
