About 400 small-scale entrepreneurs have received a forty million naira grant from the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) in Cross River State.

The grant is facilitated by the Senator representing the Southern Senatorial District of Cross River State, Asuquo Ekpenyong, and each of the beneficiaries will receive N100,000 to boost their businesses and improve productivity.

Speaking during the event, Senator Ekpenyong said the initiative forms part of his continuous effort to support entrepreneurs, women, and youths across the senatorial district.

He emphasized that empowering constituents economically remains one of the most sustainable ways to drive development and reduce poverty.

The SMEDAN-backed interventions, he added, are designed to help beneficiaries expand their small businesses, improve productivity, and create additional sources of income for their families and communities.

He assured constituents that beyond the SMEDAN grant, more interventions are underway which will benefit more constituents across the seven LGAs in the constituency.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Senator for facilitating the grant and creating opportunities for grassroots economic growth.

Nsa Effiom, described the intervention as timely, noting that the support would help strengthen his business and improve his livelihood.

Benedicta Itayip commended Senator Ekpenyong for remembering ordinary constituents and ensuring that empowerment programmes reach people at the grassroots.
