Claire Chadwick, a 40-year-old British woman who relocated to Nigeria to start a new life with her husband, has died while pregnant, alongside her unborn baby.
Daily Mail reports that Chadwick, from Cardiff, Wales, was 37 weeks pregnant with a baby girl when she lost the child in the womb and later developed sepsis.
She subsequently died from septic shock in Nigeria, her family confirmed, according to the report.
Chadwick had moved to Nigeria to be with her husband, Ibrahim, after the couple built a following on social media sharing videos about their relationship, faith and food challenges on TikTok and Instagram.
Her family described the mother-of-one as “funny” and “fiercely strong-minded”.
Her sister, Shannon, said the family’s priority was to bring Claire and her unborn daughter home to the UK, nearly 3,000 miles away, to be laid to rest together.

“More than anything, we want them both returned so they can be laid to rest with dignity, surrounded by the family who love them,” Shannon said.
The family has launched a GoFundMe appeal to raise £10,000 to cover the cost of repatriating her body and that of her unborn daughter. The fundraiser has already raised more than £10,000.
Claire leaves behind her 19-year-old son, who lives in Wales, as well as her husband Ibrahim and other family members.
“She was a woman who lived her life in her own way and she will leave a lasting impression on everyone who knew her,” Shannon said.
The family acknowledged the support from REST, a UK charity supporting relatives of people who die suddenly or tragically abroad.
