4 varsity students die in auto crash

FOUR undergraduates of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) yesterday evening lost their lives in an auto crash along Ilesa-Akure Express Road.

The accident which occurred at Ibule in Ifedore Local Government Area of the state, a few meters to the university campus, also left 10 other stu­dents injured.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state command, Mr. Femi Joseph who con­firmed the accident attributed the accident to over  speeding.

He said some students of the university travelling to Ibadan, Oyo State for a private engagement were involved in a ghastly mo­tor accident.

The PPRO said the ac­cident which involved a Toyota Hiace bus and a motorcycle was caused by over speeding on the part of the driver of the bus.

He hinted that the corps­es of the deceased students had been deposited in the mogue, while the injured ones are receiving treat­ment at different hospi­tals in the state.

Also the Public Rela­tions Officer of the Uni­versity, Mr Adegbenro said the students were on a private religious trip when the accident hap­pened.

He said the manage­ment of the university was already aware of the accident and already relating with the Police on the mat­ter.

He commiserated with the families of the deceased stu­dents and their colleagues.
