4 female apprentices in court over alleged N6.5m theft from of employer

Four female apprentices on Friday appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over the alleged theft of their employer’s N6.5 million.

Defendants-Mutiat Mutiu, 20; Morenikeji Adeniyi, 23; Omowumi Kazeem, 20 and Selimot Kehinde,18, whose house addresses were not provided, are facing charges bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Inspector Salewa Hammed, told the court that the defendant allegedly conspired together to commit the offence.

Hammed alleged that the defendants between 2024 and February 2025 stole N6.5 million being proceeds from sales of clothing items belonging to Sekinat Azeez, the complainant.

He said the offence contravened Section 390 (6) (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2004.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs M. M. Olagbenro admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N1 million each, with two sureties each in like sum.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Olagbenro adjourned the matter until July 15, 2025, for hearing.
