31-year-old pleads guilty to burglary, theft in Ikorodu

A 31-year-old man, Godswill Sunday, has pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy, burglary, breaking and entering, and stealing before a Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Sunday was arraigned alongside other suspects who are currently at large. He pleaded guilty to all four counts after the charges were read and explained to him.

The prosecutor, ASP Christian O., told the court that the defendant and his accomplices allegedly committed the offences between July 26 and August 8, 2026, at Igboolomu, Owutu, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

According to the charge sheet, the accused persons allegedly broke into the residence of one Hassan Sulaiman and stole property valued at about N1.535 million.

The items allegedly stolen included a refrigerator valued at N230,000, two generating sets worth N750,000, a gas cylinder valued at N55,000 and kitchen utensils estimated at N500,000.

The court was further informed that some of the stolen items were recovered during police investigations.

The case was heard before Magistrate Shatobi at Magistrates’ Court 2, Ikorodu.

Following Sunday’s guilty plea, the court adjourned the matter until November 12, 2026, for further proceedings.

The offences are punishable under the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
