Three people were killed in renewed clashes in the Maiyanga district of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, on Monday.
Daily Sun gathered the victims were waylaid and butchered by gunmen as they were returning from Kwall, also in Bassa. A resident of Maiyanga community, Mr Danlami Dangu, said the incident occurred around 7pm.

He said: “The people were killed at Maiyanga, while returning from Kwall, around 7pm, on Monday evening. The killers used machetes to avoid attracting the attention of men of the STF stationed in Maiyanga, about two km from the location of the attack.”
He gave the names of the victims as Bala Ruhuwie, Gawah Gudu and Na’ago (fnu). Daily Sun also gathered that the efforts of the soldiers stationed in the area helped to avert a reprisal.
When contacted, the Spokesman of the special task force on security in Plateau, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), Maj. Samson Zhakom, said he was yet to be briefed by the sector commander. He promised to get in touch with Daily Sun as soon as he gets information on the incident, but, as of the time of this report, he was yet to do so.
