3 dead as truck, commercial bus collide in Delta

Three persons including two males and one female have reportedly died after an empty petrol tanker collided with a commercial bus along Aboh/Ogwashi-Uku road in Delta State.

The accident was said to have occurred on Monday evening when the truck smashed the bus which heading to Asaba

Security sources who confided in our correspondent said the truck was heading for Warri.

The source said: “A Lexus Jeep ha carelessly overtaken the truck, and in bid not smash the Jeep, the driver had to swerve towards the opposite direction, leaving it’s lane entirely and found itself facing the oncoming bus from the opposite side.

“The truck driver collided with the bus, killing the driver on the spot, while the male passenger on the front seat with him, had opened his own side of the door and jumped out.

“Luck however ran against him, as the tyre of the truck ran over him, crushing him instantly.

“The lady herself who was rushed to a private hospital due to varying degrees of wounds was reported to have later died.

“Currently, the driver of the truck is in the custody of the police, after he was rescued from angry mob who besieged the scene of the accident.”
