27 Nigerians appointed into FIBA Africa Zone 3 Councils

12 Nigerians listed to officiate in 2021/2023 FIBA competitions

A total of 27 Nigerians have been appointed into various Councils of FIBA Africa Zone 3 led by Col. Sam Ahmedu (Rtd) as President.

According to Ahmedu, the appointments are in line with the objectives of the Zone to have a solid structure comprising capable basketball practitioners from across the eight countries in the Zone namely; Nigeria, Benin, Cote d’ Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso, Niger and Liberia.

The Nigerians that were appointed are Mrs. Susan Oguche (Women Development Council), Adamu Deshi (Technical & Competitions Council), Benjamin Peters and Ms.Tina Emmanuel (Youth & Mini Basketball Council), Ms. Silifat Mohammed and Hanson Oguche (Development Council), Fanen Iornem, Segun Ikuesan alongside Mike Mbonye (VOA) in the Communications & Media Council.

“In establishing the Zone Councils, we have taken into consideration a balance of administrative acumen and technical know-how of men and women drawn from within and outside the different National Federations. We believe that this combination, working together, will take basketball in our Zone to greater heights and lead us to a future of greater responsibility and promise.

“Aside, from those mentioned above, it should also be noted that the NBBF President, Engr. Ahmadu Musa Kida who heads the Youth and Mini Basketball Council and Mr. Frank Jituboh who heads the 3×3 Council, respectively, are members of the Zone Board. In the same vein Professor Florence Adeyanju, Felix Awogu, Danladi Yaro and Olumide Oyedeji are Vice Chairpersons of the Women Development, Communications & Media, Marketing/Sponsorship/ Finance Councils and Development Councils, respectively.

Joseph Apu is also reappointed Secretary of the Zone Board.

Members of the various Councils will serve for the 2023-2027 Term of Office.
