A total of twenty-seven teams will be participating in the forthcoming Super 8 football tournament starting late January in Anambra.
A total of 13 clubs from Anambra Central Zone will be participating in the tournament being sponsored by Aspire FC while eight teams will participate from Anambra North Zone.
The Brand Manager, Aspire FC, Adazi Ani, Chidimma Ezeasor, said that participating clubs would be submitting their players’ licenses on Tuesday, January 26.
“Besides, there will be free medical examination for players of the participating clubs from Anambra Central on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at the Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka; with that of Anambra North holding on Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Otuocha Stadium, Otuocha; while that of Anambra South holds on Friday, January 29, 2021, at Ekwulobia Township Stadium, Ekwulobia. Also, zonal playoff matches will hold from February 1-3, at four different centres across the state,” she said. She lauded the various clubs for taking bold steps to register for the tournament, and encouraged them to maximize the opportunity offered to them for a better football development in Anambra State.
