219km of roads to be constructed by Gov Otti-led administration

The Commissioner for Information and Culture,  Prince Okey Kanu has said  two hundred kilometer of roads in addition to the nineteen Kilometer Itungwa-Mgboko-Amairi-Amaise-Ahiaba-Omoba Road are to be constructed by the present administration under the World Bank Assisted Project.

Kanu who dropped the news while briefing journalists at government House on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting noted that the 219-km road projects is in addition to the already completed five roads in Aba to be commissioned soon with streets lights and water fountains.

He noted that the new projects are products of the cordial working relationship that has been strengthened between the Governor Alex Otti administration and International Donor Agencies and Multi-National Agencies.

The Information Commissioner also announced that the Urban-Renewal Initiative of the present administration focusing on Aba and Umuahia will give birth to the construction of Bus terminals, creation of new junctions among other infrastructures, noting that the whole idea is to improve infrastructure in the transport sector.

Prince Kanu noted that the light up Aba and Umuahia Initiative of the present administration aimed at restoring night life in the two major cities has been extend to every part of the state including public schools and government establishment.

Restating Governor Otti’s commitment to offsetting arrears of pensions and workers salary in various MDAs, Prince Kanu advised civil servants to take their complaints to the desk office recently set up at the Office of the Accountant General the needed attention.

Reacting to a report being circulated by the opposition PDP Party that the present administration has nothing to celebrate in its first one hundred days in office, the Information Commissioner said the administration has continued to make giant strides in various sectors where it declared state of emergency and would not be distracted by the antics of the opposition.
