The Yayi-Kudirat Students Campaign Organization (YAKSCO) has congratulated the City Boy Movement, Ogun State chapter, on the successful inauguration of its State Executive and the empowerment programme held to mark the occasion in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
Convener of YAKSCO, Comrade Oladimeji Uthman conveyed this in a statement issued over the weekend.
The statement reads, “We particularly commend the Ogun State leadership of the movement under the pilotship of Dr. Sulaiman Abdul Lateef (ADLAT) for making empowerment an integral part of its leadership transition, reaffirming the principle that meaningful leadership must transcend ceremonies and translate into tangible opportunities, capacity development and improved livelihoods for the people.
“This significant milestone is a reflection of visionary leadership, grassroots engagement and a genuine commitment to youth development and inclusive empowerment.
“The initiative further demonstrates the potential of organised youth movements to become catalysts for positive change and sustainable community development.
“Beyond the symbolism of the inauguration, the empowerment programme represents a practical demonstration of what responsible youth leadership should look like. At a time when young people require not only representation but also opportunities to become economically productive and self-reliant, initiatives of this nature deserve recognition and encouragement.”
YAKSCO expressed belief that sustainable development begins with empowering people at the grassroots and creating platforms through which young Nigerians can discover their potential, acquire relevant skills and contribute meaningfully to society.
“The decision of the City Boy Movement to complement its leadership inauguration with an empowerment initiative therefore reflects a commendable understanding of the responsibilities that come with organised leadership,” the statement further reads.
The group said it recognizes the importance of unity, collaboration and purposeful mobilisation among youth-oriented organisations across Ogun State.
It noted that when young people come together around positive ideals, constructive engagement and community development, they can become powerful partners in advancing the progress and prosperity of the state.
YAKSCO stated, “The newly inaugurated executives are therefore encouraged to see their tenure as an opportunity to deepen grassroots engagement, expand the reach of empowerment programmes, promote youth participation and continue building a movement that remains connected to the aspirations and realities of the people.
“YAKSCO further encourages the City Boy Movement, Ogun State Chapter, to sustain this momentum by developing more strategic initiatives that will impact students, young entrepreneurs, artisans, professionals and other vulnerable members of society. Consistency in this direction will undoubtedly strengthen the movement’s relevance and deepen its contribution to youth development across Ogun State.
“This significant occasion also reinforces the need for young leaders to embrace leadership with responsibility, integrity, inclusiveness and a clear sense of purpose. Leadership is not merely about occupying positions; it is about creating value, inspiring confidence, solving problems and leaving behind measurable footprints of positive impact.
“YAKSCO celebrates the leadership of the City Boy Movement, Ogun State Chapter, and wishes the newly inaugurated executives a successful and impactful tenure filled with greater accomplishments, strategic initiatives and enduring contributions to the development of Ogun State.
“We are confident that the new leadership, under the guidance and strategic direction of Dr. Sulaiman Abdul Lateef (ADLAT), will continue to build on this foundation and transform the energy of the movement into sustainable programmes that will benefit more young people and communities across the state.”
