Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has confirmed his intention to contest a Senate seat in the 2027 general election, urging All Progressives Congress (APC) members to close ranks and support all candidates running on the party’s platform.
Uzodimma made the declaration on Wednesday at the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, where he addressed party leaders and members on the need for collective efforts ahead of the elections.
“I will be on the ballot as a senatorial candidate,” the governor said, confirming his plan to seek an elective position in the Senate.
He maintained that the APC’s responsibility to secure President Bola Tinubu’s re-election should also extend to every candidate representing the party in the forthcoming polls.
“So all of us, the challenge of re-electing Mr. President is the challenge of re-electing every member of APC. It follows that our party has no excuse not to win,” Uzodimma said.
The governor stressed that internal disagreements could undermine the party’s electoral prospects if members failed to reconcile and work towards a common objective.
He urged APC leaders and supporters to set aside personal differences and unite behind the party’s candidates.

“Victory is guaranteed when we are united. Victory is guaranteed when we are committed and work as a focused team,” he said.
Uzodimma added that party members must put aside their grievances and present a united front to Nigerians throughout the campaign.
“We must reject any misgivings we have against each other. We must reconcile our differences. We must rally as one family behind the party and all the candidates. We must speak to Nigerians as one family, with one voice and one message,” he said.
The Imo governor also called on party members to intensify their preparations and approach the remaining period before the election with greater urgency.
“And I’m simply asking that we carry it with greater urgency from today. Treating each of the 94 days ahead of us as a working day,” he said.
Addressing possible tensions arising from the APC primaries, Uzodimma urged candidates to move beyond any disagreements and work together to achieve the party’s electoral objectives.
“The primaries are behind us. Whatever disagreement they may have left, the success of one of us cannot be built on the failure of another. And every candidate who carries our flag deserves the full support of the whole party,” he said.
