2027: Tinubu support group launches ‘market-to-market’ campaign in Southeast

The Southeast chapter of the Renewed Hope for Greater Nigeria, (RHGN), yesterday, inaugurated its Market Wing at the Ariaria International Market in Aba, Abia State, as part of a new grassroots push to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election in the zone.

The inauguration, performed by the Deputy National Leader of RHGN for the Southeast, Mazi Franklin Ngoforo, drew a large turnout of traders, importers, and market leaders at one of West Africa’s largest commercial hubs.

Addressing the gathering, Ngoforo said the group’s assignment was to begin a “market-to-market” campaign across Ariaria, engaging traders shop-by-shop to explain how federal economic policies were impacting their businesses.

He focused on the stabilisation of Nigeria’s exchange rate under the Tinubu administration. Ngoforo told traders that the previous system of multiple exchange rates had allowed politically connected individuals to obtain foreign exchange from the Central Bank of Nigeria at subsidised rates and resell it to genuine traders at inflated prices.

He said the decision to unify the exchange rate ended that practice and had directly improved conditions for Igbo traders and importers who form a core part of the Southeast economy.

Ngoforo also linked ongoing projects in Abia State to the President’s reforms. He said the increased revenue allocation to Southeast states, following the removal of fuel subsidy and exchange rate unification, had enabled developmental strides by Abia State Governor, Alex Otti. He urged traders to see the President’s policies as responsible for the changes in their state and to reciprocate with votes in 2027.

“The message must reach every corner of this market. Traders deserve to understand, in clear terms, how national economic policy is shaping their daily business fortunes,” Ngoforo said.

Responding on behalf of the new team, the Coordinator of the Ariaria Market Wing of RHGN, Chief Clifford Igbokwe, also known as Ogbuefi Mbaukwu, thanked Ngoforo and the National Leadership of RHGN led by Hon. Calistus Anyanwu for the opportunity. He assured that the team would deliver on its mandate.

The Ariaria inauguration is the latest in RHGN Southeast’s expansion drive. The group recently unveiled its Booth Army and Campus Wing structures in Owerri, and held an outreach to Pentecostal clergy in Awka.

With the launch of the Market Wing, RHGN said it is broadening its mobilisation architecture across markets, campuses, and religious institutions in a bid to deliver the Southeast for President Tinubu in 2027.
