The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has rated President Bola Tinubu as the most credible among other presidential candidates contesting in next year’s general elections.

Yilwatda, in his welcome address at the inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in Abuja on Wednesday, claimed that President Tinubu has done marvellously well to attract the massive votes of the Nigerian electorate during the January 16 presidential election.

He challenged the Campaign Council to provide direction, coordination and clear responsibilities and urged the governors, legislators, party leaders and campaign officials to work together to ensure that the message permeated every community and that members remained actively engaged.

He said: “We will ask Nigerians to support the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027 because we believe the administration’s reform agenda and development priorities deserve continued consideration and the opportunity to deliver further results.”

“Our task is to make that case convincingly with evidence of progress, a clear explanation of our policies and a practical account of what remains to be achieved. We must engage citizens on the issues that matter to them: the cost of living, security, jobs, education, healthcare, agricultural productivity and economic opportunity.

“We must explain how the administration intends to address these concerns and listen carefully to the expectations Nigerians place before us. To our colleagues in the opposition, we recognise your legitimate role in our democracy. Let the coming election be a contest of ideas, records and policies, conducted peacefully and with respect for the Nigerian people.

“The APC will present its case with confidence, defend its record with facts and trust Nigerians to make their choice through a credible democratic process,” he said.

Yilwatda, in his appeal to the ruling party supporters, said: “I understand the expectations of our members as we approach the next general election. Let me assure you that every level of our party matters. Our strength depends on the effectiveness of our national leadership, the commitment of our state chapters, the organisation of our local government structures and the dedication of our ward members.”

“This Campaign Council must provide direction, coordination and clear responsibilities. Our governors, legislators, party leaders and campaign officials must work together, ensuring that our message reaches every community and that our members remain actively engaged.

“I particularly recognise the indispensable role of our women, whose contributions to party organisation, community mobilisation and national development must be reflected in meaningful participation and leadership.

“To our youth, your creativity, innovation, digital skills and aspirations are essential to our party’s future. We must engage you as partners in shaping Nigeria, not merely as participants during election campaigns.

“To persons with disabilities, I reaffirm that you are valued members of our political community. Your voices, leadership and participation must be respected, and our campaign activities should be accessible and inclusive. No Nigerian should be made to feel that a disability diminishes their place in our democracy.

“To every member, I say: you are seen, you are heard, and your commitment matters. Let us approach this assignment with confidence and a shared sense of responsibility. Confidence is not complacency. It is the determination to prepare thoroughly, work together and earn the trust of the people,” he said.
