The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) vice-presidential candidate, Lawal Daura, has declared that President Bola Tinubu is beatable in the 2027 presidential election, accusing his administration of making several errors that could affect its re-election bid.
Daura spoke on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, hours after the APM inaugurated its presidential campaign office in Abuja, with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as its presidential candidate.
Asked whether he believed Tinubu could be defeated at the 2027 poll, the former Director-General of the Department of State Services replied, “Very well.”
Daura described Tinubu as a “very amiable person” but argued that the President’s political status did not make him immune from defeat, particularly because, in his view, the administration had made several mistakes.
“They say nobody is perfect, especially when you are a politician; you commit so many errors, even if it is inadvertent,” he said.
Asked specifically whether Tinubu’s government was committing such errors, Daura again replied, “Very well.”
However, he rejected the suggestion that the APM intended to exploit the administration’s shortcomings for political advantage, saying the party would rather offer solutions.

“We are not taking advantage, we are even helping to correct those errors. But those functionaries that are either incompetent or are not able to see what we are seeing may not allow it to be used,” Daura said.
Explaining why Nigerians should consider the Makinde-Daura ticket, the former DSS boss said he and the Oyo governor shared a common vision of resetting the country and bringing a different approach to governance.
“We are a pair that seems to really understand each other; we share the same passion for this country, and don’t forget, one of our mottos is that we are resetting this country,” he said.
Daura also identified Makinde’s ability to connect with both younger and older generations as an advantage in the presidential race, describing the governor as someone who belongs to both the digital and analogue ages.
He added that he would be a “very loyal” vice-president to Makinde, saying any disagreement between them would be based on policy and issues rather than personal differences.
The APM campaign office was inaugurated in Abuja earlier on Monday, with former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi, legislators, members of the party’s Board of Trustees and National Working Committee, among other party supporters, in attendance.
