2027: Those planning to rig would be shocked, says APM

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 polls, Lawal Daura, has said that those who may want to rig the presidential contest have a surprise waiting for them.

Daura, who stated this at the inauguration of the APM Presidential Campaign Organisation, on Tuesday, in Abuja, said the opposition party is not leaving any stone unturned in the mobilisation of Nigerians for the 2027 election.

He stated that the opposition party is committed to winning the presidential contest, so that it can reset the country, noting that the solution to the country’s challenges lies in a reset of the critical sectors of the economy.

According to him, “the resetting is the only solution so far that can get Nigeria out. And by resetting, it means every other thing that has been configured in Nigeria needs to be looked at, amended, changed, replaced, or whatever.”

Nonetheless, Daura warned those who may want to manipulate the process that they would not get away with it in the forthcoming election.

“A lot of those that are thinking that there is a way to get votes other than canvassing for them, telling the people how qualitative you are, your programmes, and the rest of it, maybe there are those who may think there is a shortcut.

“Well, this time around, the struggle is for real. We are not going to let them escape with it. We must make sure that everything is done in accordance with the law and the Electoral Act. And for those who really want to rig, that they can pull a fast one, well, they have a surprise coming.”

The APM National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, while speaking at the event, admonished the members of the campaign organisation to always remember that the sole objective is to deliver the Seyi Makinde and Daura presidential ticket in the 2027 poll.

Dantalle noted that while there might be challenges, the ability of the party to manage them effectively would send a strong signal to the electorate about the preparedness of the APM for governance.

According to him, “I want us to understand that the project here is one. How can we deliver the Seyi Makinde and Maman Daura into the Villa come 2027? And to also form the government in Nigeria, which is one goal. It is not an easy task, but that does not make it impossible.

“We are bound to encounter challenges. We are bound to disagree with one another. But our ability to manage our internal problems is what Nigeria wants to see.”
