Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a Nigerian technology expert, Gunu Usman, has unveiled an Artificial Intelligence-powered platform, BAT-BOT AI, designed to address the spread of misinformation in the digital space.

Usman, founder of LYT24 Technologies, who unveiled the platform in Abuja, described it as an innovation aimed at helping citizens access verified information and counter false narratives circulating online.

According to him, the application, also known as the Bola Ahmed Tinubu AI-Bot, is designed as a civic information and fact-verification tool to provide Nigerians with accessible information about government policies and national development initiatives.

He noted that the rapid spread of misinformation, disinformation, manipulated media and other misleading content online poses risks to public trust and democratic processes.

“To address these challenges, we developed BAT-BOT AI as an AI-powered platform that enables citizens to verify information and access credible facts,” Usman said.

He explained that the platform was accessible across several digital channels, including WhatsApp, X (formerly Twitter), Telegram and a dedicated web interface.

He said the innovation reflects the increasing influence of digital platforms on political communication and public engagement.

“In today’s digital environment, information spreads quickly and can shape public perception. Tools that help people verify information are, therefore, becoming increasingly important,” he said.

According to him, the platform allows users to verify texts, images, videos and voice notes, asks questions about governance and receives simplified explanations of public policies and national development programmes.

The system has also been designed to communicate in multiple languages, including English, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo and Nigerian Pidgin, to make the service accessible to a broader audience.

He said the development team built the platform to contribute to a healthier information ecosystem by helping users identify reused media, manipulated visuals and potentially misleading digital content.

He added that the tool operates as a 24-hour digital information platform aimed at improving public understanding of governance issues and encouraging responsible civic engagement.
