The African Action Congress (AAC), presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore, has asked President Bola Tinubu to approve the use of the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, for the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party also requested food, drinks and other logistical support for 5,000 participants expected at the event scheduled for November 11, 2026.

The requests were contained in a letter dated October 21, 2026, and signed by the AAC National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena.

In the letter, the party said the proposed inauguration was part of its preparations for the 2027 elections, adding that its request was based on multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of political parties.

The AAC also cited arrangements reportedly made for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement.

“In the spirit of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment of political parties, we also request the provision of food, drinks, and other logistical support for 5,000 participants from home and abroad at the event, consistent with the arrangements reportedly extended to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement,” the letter read.

The party argued that approving its request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness and prevent public institutions from being used in a partisan manner.

“We believe that granting this request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness, equal access, and the principle that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination,” it stated.

The AAC further asked the President to provide details of the procedures and conditions required to secure approval for the proposed event.

“We look forward to your favourable consideration of this request and would appreciate information on the applicable procedures and conditions for its approval,” the letter added.

The request comes as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the AAC seeking access to the seat of government for its campaign council inauguration and support for participants expected from within and outside Nigeria.
