The senator representing Anambra South senatorial zone at the national assembly, and candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for Anambra South senatorial district for the 2027 general election, Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu, has posited that Governor Charles Soludo’s giant strides in the development of the state will pave ways for APGA candidates to win elections at different levels during the upcoming national elections.
Nwachukwu, who spoke yesterday at his country home Ukpor, Nnewi South LGA, at an occasion to mark his 365 days in office, stated that political representation is not about occupying a seat or enjoying the privileges of office.
The Anambra South Senator, who joined the national assembly on October 8, 2025, following a by-election held in August, 2025 to replace the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, said that political representation entails carrying the collective voice, hope, tears, and aspirations of the people to where national decisions are made. He noted that immediately he assumed office, he remained resolute, and set the ball rolling, despite immediate legal challenges surrounding his mandate.
He said, “My journey to the senate chamber was accompanied by immediate legal challenges surrounding the mandate, yet, I remained focused. This is because our roads did not stop deteriorating because of tribunal proceedings. Erosion did not stop swallowing our lands. Our markets and industries did not stop suffering power outages. Our young graduates did not stop needing job security. Therefore, while legal teams worked in court, I went to work at the senate chambers.”
The senator said that upon assuming office, he retained key administrative staff that worked with late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah because of the need to preserve vital institutional memory and ensure that constituent services continue without interruption.

While highlighting his major achievements within the past one year, the senator said that he sponsored a major senate motion calling national attention to the collapsed bridge and failed sections along the critical Okija Spur-Ihembosi-Ukpor -Ebenator-Ezinifite road corridor, and successfully securing Senate resolution directing the Federal Ministry of Works and FERMA to execute immediate engineering interventions.
He also said that to tackle the devastating gully erosion threatening homes and farmlands across his senatorial district, especially Aguata, Orumba, Ihiala, and neighbouring communities, he engaged the Ecological Fund Office and the Federal Ministry of Environment to bring targeted federal remediation to the most vulnerable sites.
The senator also said that he is facilitating federal employment opportunities for qualified youths from Anambra South across various ministries, departments, and agencies – creating pathways for young people to secure stable employment opportunities and build meaningful careers in public service; adding that he is currently undertaking the first phase of installation of over 3,000 solar-powered street lights across Anambra South.
Onodugo, as he is fondly called, said he maintained continuous town hall meetings and consultation sessions with traditional rulers, Presidents General, youth bodies, women’s organisations, and constituents across all seven LGAs of Anambra South, as well as diaspora communities in Lagos and across Nigeria.
