Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election, signalling a continued political alignment between his party and the ruling government.
Speaking during a television interview in Awka, Soludo said his backing for Tinubu is deliberate, describing the president as a trusted ally whose leadership he believes should continue.
“Tinubu is my friend, and I want him to win a second term. I am unapologetic about that,” he said.
The governor also disclosed that the All Progressives Grand Alliance will not field a presidential candidate in 2027, maintaining the same strategy adopted during the 2023 elections.

According to him, the decision is a calculated one aimed at strengthening governance rather than engaging in unnecessary political contest at the national level.
Soludo noted that his administration has maintained a productive relationship with the federal government, adding that Anambra State has benefited from that cooperation.
He stressed that APGA would instead focus on consolidating its influence at the state and regional levels while supporting a presidential candidate it considers capable of delivering national development.
