The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Ebonyi State chapter, has urged students of tertiary institutions across the country to participate actively in next year’s general election as a civic responsibility essential to democratic consolidation.

The students’ body implored its members to shun violence, electoral malpractice, and all forms of social vices before, during, and after the electoral process.

In a communiqué issued at the end of its meeting in Abakaliki, the state capital, over the weekend, during the endorsement of Dr. Alfred Nwuruku for the position of Senate President of NANS nationwide, the stakeholders urged the students to uphold the values of peace, tolerance, and lawful engagement during the general election.

The communiqué signed by Comrade Okoro Joshua Offor, Chairman, Ebonyi State NANS Stakeholders Forum, endorsed Governor Francis Nwifuru and President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 elections and urged the students to return them during the elections.

It commended the Federal Government for the introduction and implementation of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) initiative, as a strategic intervention aimed at expanding access to higher education.
