Yari, Ganduje, Masari urge artists to mobilise support for APC candidates

Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged Northern artists and other creative industry professionals to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, describing the President’s return to office as crucial to Nigeria’s prosperity and national unity.
Shettima, who made the appeal on Wednesday in Abuja, said the North should support Tinubu in the interest of fairness and the continued unity of the country, while assuring Northern artists of the Federal Government’s commitment to developing the region’s creative industry.
The Vice President spoke when he received a delegation of Northern Performing Artists under the aegis of Triple-R For Renewed Hope at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign office in Abuja, according to a statement by his media aide, Stanley Nkwocha.
He said the Tinubu administration’s creative economy initiatives offered opportunities for Northern artists, filmmakers and musicians to expand their businesses, preserve cultural heritage and generate employment.
According to him, the Federal Government will continue to introduce targeted interventions to support creative professionals in the region, urging them to reciprocate the administration’s efforts by supporting the President’s re-election bid.
Shettima also urged the artists to remain committed to the APC, expressing confidence that the benefits of the administration’s economic reforms and other policies would become more evident across different sectors in the coming months and years.
The Vice President’s appeal comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum, with the APC seeking to consolidate its support base across the country.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, said Tinubu’s re-election campaign would be anchored on the administration’s achievements, urging support groups and individuals to assess the government based on its performance.
Yari also dismissed claims by opposition politicians that the North had been marginalised in federal appointments and projects, insisting that the region had received fair treatment under the Tinubu administration.
He maintained that the North remained an integral part of the country’s democratic process and urged creative industry professionals to disregard narratives suggesting otherwise.
Similarly, the Deputy Director-General of Parliamentary Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, commended the artists for pledging support for Tinubu and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Masari said the administration’s policies and programmes were creating opportunities for the creative industry, urging practitioners to take advantage of them to improve their livelihoods.
Former Kano State Governor and APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, also commended the group for its commitment to the party, describing Triple-R For Renewed Hope as one of the APC’s organic support groups.
Ganduje urged the artists to promote justice, fairness and inclusiveness in their mobilisation for Tinubu’s re-election, while calling for greater investment in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
He identified infrastructure development and the training of emerging artists as critical to unlocking the potential of the sector, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
In his remarks, the President of Triple-R For Renewed Hope, Dauda Kahutu Rarara, pledged the group’s support for Tinubu’s re-election and the emergence of APC candidates across the North.
Rarara said Northern creative professionals were united in their resolve to support the President and other candidates of the ruling party in 2027, describing their backing as organic and based on the administration’s performance.
He added that professionals in the Northern film industry were committed to working together to ensure the success of APC candidates in the elections.
The group’s National Chairman, Lawan Ahmad, and Secretary, Ahmad Bifa, also pledged to mobilise support for Tinubu and other APC candidates, while appealing to the Federal Government to address infrastructure deficits and improve the welfare of creative professionals in Northern Nigeria.
