A coalition of Southern Kaduna groups under the umbrella of Zango-Jaba Youth Assembly for Good Governance, (YAGG) has called for equity and inclusive political representation in the Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group said its position was not aimed at creating division, but strengthening harmony through fairness in the distribution of political offices.

“Our goal is unity, fairness and progress. By ensuring that every community feels included, we can strengthen our constituency and contribute meaningfully to the development of Kaduna State and Nigeria,” the group stated.

Addressing a press conference in Kaduna, the chairman of the coalition, Hon. Bitrus Dabo, said the long-standing understanding of power rotation between Zangon Kataf and Jaba Local Government Areas must be sustained to preserve unity and political stability in the constituency.

According to him, available records indicate that Zangon Kataf Local Government Area currently holds a disproportionate number of political appointments and elective positions at both federal and state levels.

The coalition listed some of the positions to include the Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa and the senator representing the district, Sunday Marshall Katung, as well as several key roles in federal agencies and Kaduna State government institutions. It also noted that the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress hails from Zangon Kataf and had occupied the position for eight years. While acknowledging the contributions of leaders from Zangon Kataf, the coalition stressed the need for balance to ensure that all parts of the constituency feel adequately represented.

It added that the call should not be misconstrued as a demand or entitlement, but rather as a push for inclusivity so that Jaba does not feel marginalised in the evolving political landscape.

The group further commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for promoting inclusivity through appointments and development initiatives, which it said had positively impacted Southern Kaduna, particularly in the areas of security and agricultural support.

The coalition also appealed to Governor Uba Sani to intervene and ensure that fairness and inclusion were upheld in the interest of unity and sustainable political development.
