The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has alleged that his campaign banners were removed from parts of the state ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Rhodes-Vivour said the banners, which had been displayed for some time, were taken down within a week at locations stretching from Ikeja to Ikoyi.
Speaking on Channels TV ahead of the election, the former Labour Party governorship candidate said he was not dwelling on the alleged removal of the campaign materials, adding that his team was preparing for possible intimidation during the campaign.
He also alleged that his political opponents could resort to the use of thugs and other tactics to disrupt his campaign and divert public attention from important issues.
“We know the kind of people we are up against. It’s like saying that we don’t expect them to be violent or to try to bully us or try to intimidate us,” he said.
Rhodes-Vivour added that his campaign was preparing for possible challenges while remaining hopeful about the electoral process.

“What we’re saying is that we’re planning for the worst, we’re hoping for the best,” he said.
The ADC candidate further alleged that his opponents would attempt to distract political discussions from issues affecting residents and could continue removing campaign banners as the election approaches.
He said his team was familiar with the tactics it expected to encounter and was prepared to confront them.
Rhodes-Vivour also expressed doubts about the effectiveness of publicly complaining about such incidents, arguing that those responsible would not respond to appeals.
“They’ve shown us who they are, and we believe them,” he said.
