2027 presidency: Group urges Obi, Atiku, others to unite behind Bala Mohammed
From Jude Chinedu, Enugu
The Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed Vanguard (BAMV) has called on Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and other opposition leaders in Nigeria to rally behind Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during its South East Zonal Congress in Enugu, the group stressed that only collective action by opposition forces can rescue Nigeria from deepening economic and social crises.
The group’s National Director of Protocol, Peace Iheanyi, who addressed journalists after the congress said that there was need for unity among the candidates as they stand a better chance for victory together.
Iheanyi highlighted the collapse of the Naira to over N1,600 per dollar, inflation exceeding 40%, and the price of a bag of rice surging beyond N100,000.
She said,”This is not the time for division or personal ambition. The APC-led government has crippled our economy, weakened our national security, and inflicted severe hardship on Nigerians.
“Life has become unbearable for ordinary Nigerians. The removal of fuel subsidies without adequate mitigation measures has worsened the situation. But with Bala Mohammed at the helm, we can chart a new course and restore hope.
“If we must save this nation, opposition leaders like Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso need to set aside their differences and unite behind Bala Mohammed.
“Bala Mohammed has demonstrated the leadership skills required to govern a diverse nation like Nigeria. His track record speaks for itself—Bauchi State is now the most peaceful state in the North-East, a testament to his mastery of governance.
“The APC has spent nine years wrecking this country with reckless borrowing, policy inconsistencies, and rampant corruption. They have no strategy for wealth creation and have instead compromised national security, allowing terrorism and mass killings to become the new normal.
The group expressed its commitment towards seeing Bala Mohammed secure the PDP ticket and lead Nigeria to a better future, adding that, “This is not just a political campaign—it is a national rescue mission.”
