Former federal lawmaker and Allied People’s Movement (APM) senatorial candidate, Shina Peller, has begun moves to consolidate the party’s structures across Oyo North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His latest move came at a strategic meeting in Iseyin, where he brought together APM candidates and key party leaders from the 13 local government areas covering Oke-Ogun and Ogbomoso, which all together formed Oyo North senatorial district.
The critical stakeholders at the meeting included candidates for the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly, local government party chairmen, youth and women leaders, as well as other campaign strategists.
The meeting was aimed at harmonising the party’s structures and campaign strategies as well as creating coordinated political machinery ahead of the elections.
Addressing the gathering, Peller, who represented Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 2019 and 2023, said the 2027 elections would present an opportunity for Oyo North to secure stronger and more accountable representation.
He urged the party’s candidates and executives to move away from conventional campaign methods and adopt a grassroots approach, focused on the concerns and aspirations of voters.

“What we are building across Oyo North is not merely an electoral platform; it is a popular movement for genuine development and inclusive governance,” Peller said.
He stressed the need for candidates contesting different legislative positions to work together, saying a coordinated structure would strengthen the party’s chances at the polls.
Peller also said his legislative experience and national contacts would be deployed towards addressing developmental challenges in the district, particularly in agriculture, youth development and infrastructure.
According to him, Oyo North, regarded as a major agricultural hub of Oyo State, requires stronger federal legislative advocacy to unlock its economic potential.
The meeting also produced a coordinated operational framework linking the senatorial campaign with candidates contesting federal and state constituencies.
The framework is expected to focus on voter engagement, youth and women mobilisation, polling-unit protection and continuous consultations with traditional and community leaders.
APM local government chairmen at the meeting pledged to take the party’s campaign to wards, villages and polling units across the district.
