The 2027 governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, Rt. Hon. Dr. David Emmanuel Ombugadu, has continued to gain political support across the state, following fresh endorsements by several ethnic groups and communities.
The latest endorsements came on Saturday from the Eggon, Tiv, Ngas, Siyawa, Jukun and Kwalla communities, which declared support for his governorship ambition, citing the need for inclusive leadership, unity and equitable development.
The development followed the September 23 endorsement of Ombugadu by the Eggon Political Forum, which was subsequently supported by other Eggon groups, including the Eggon Community Development Association (ECDA) in Karu Local Government Area, Karshi Development Area and communities in Keffi Local Government Area.
Representatives of the various ethnic groups, in their separate remarks, said they were supporting Ombugadu because of their belief in his capacity to provide credible, people-oriented leadership and unite the diverse communities in the state.
The support for Ombugadu was further strengthened in Awe Local Government Area, where the Tiv community organised a special gathering at Atsamber village in Ribi Ward, during which 346 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the PDP.
The defectors pledged their support for Ombugadu, expressing confidence in his ability to provide purposeful leadership and address the developmental challenges confronting the state.
