Ahead of the February 2027 governorship and House of Assembly poll, pan-Igbo sociocultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ogun State chapter, has thrown its weight behind the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the electoral victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, otherwise known as Yayi.
The group equally announced the conferment of a chieftaincy title of “Dike Eji Eje Mba” on Senator Adeola.
Leading a five-man delegation to the residence of the APC governorship candidate in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, at the weekend, the president of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo in the state, Eze Stephen Okorie, disclosed that the installation ceremony for the title will be held at the end of October in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Okorie added that the installation ceremony will also witness the open endorsement for the senator and declaration of Igbo residents to support all APC candidates in Ogun State.
“I have been a resident in Ogun State for the last 36 years living in Owode-Yewa in Yewa South LGA of Ogun State. We have been watching the politics and development in Ogun State and based on the massive development that Senator Adeola has attracted to Ogun State in the last three years, particularly in the areas of market infrastructure and road construction to promote trade and commerce, the Igbos have no hesitation in endorsing the senator for governor of Ogun State and Tinubu for president in 2027 elections,” he stated.
He disclosed that he had personally constructed five campaign billboards to support President Tinubu and Senator Adeola across the state on behalf of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ogun State chapter.

He stated further that he had financed production of many campaign materials for the senator and APC, stressing that the support of Igbos for Adeola is also to redress the injustice against the people of Ogun West in not being able to produce a governor since the creation of the state.
“We have heard of your positive story while you were in Lagos in the areas of development and humanitarian deeds, and since you came to Ogun State you are continuing in the same strides. We are confident that as governor you will do more for the people of the state and all Nigerians resident in Ogun,” Okorie stated while addressing the gathering in a mixture of Igbo, Yoruba and English languages.
In his response, Senator Adeola expressed his appreciation for the gesture and support by the Igbo community in Ogun.
He recalled that while in Lagos, the Igbo community equally supported his political journey and the Eze Ndi Igbo in Lagos bestowed on him the title of “Dike Di Ora Nma” of Lagos State.
Adeola added that his facilitation of developmental projects and empowerment programmes to his senatorial district is targeted at every member of the society irrespective of tribe or religion.
“My brand of politics is the politics of inclusion and delivery of good governance for all the people. When roads, schools, hospitals and other infrastructures are constructed, it is for the good of all and all law-abiding Nigerians are welcome to do business and make progress in Ogun State,” Senator Adeola stated.
In attendance at the courtesy visit were the deputy governorship candidate of the APC in Ogun State, Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun; Dr Kunle Salako, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare; Olaolu Olabimtan, Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning; Jimoh Ojugbele, the APC Ogun West senatorial candidate, among other APC candidates and stalwarts.
