Student leaders acting under the aegis of Ogun East Students Movement for Dapo Abiodun Senate (OES-DAS) on Monday pledged to mobilise massive votes for the Ogun East senatorial candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Dapo Abiodun in 2027.
They made the commitment during a courtesy visit and strategic meeting with the Ogun State Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Dapo Okunbadejo, at his country home in GRA, Ijebu Ode.
The student leaders cited Abiodun’s achievements in education and infrastructure during his tenure as Ogun governor for their support for his senatorial ambition.
The delegation was led by immediate-past National Public Relations Officer of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and General Secretary of CityBoy Movement, Ogun State Chapter, Comrade Samson Ajasa Adeyemi.
In a statement sent to Daily Sun, the movement said the meeting focused on appreciating Governor Abiodun for his work in the education sector and legacy projects across the state.
Coordinator of the Movement, Comrade Oreoluwa Koiki said the group has been driving campus sensitisation to ensure students register for their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).
“We roll out work that has been done in ensuring students registered massively for PVC and are ready to be mobilised to vote in the coming general election,” Koiki said.
The coordinator lamented a decline in sensitisation of students who recently turned 18 and are educated about the National Identification Number (NIN) but not PVC, adding that the group has intensified efforts across campuses to ensure students perform their civic responsibility.
According to the statement, capacity building and students’ role in nation building were also central themes during the meeting.
The group agreed that students must play their role in nation building while giving their best back to society.
The commissioner, who received the students warmly, commended their dedication.
He emphasised the importance of education and urged them to remain steadfast in pursuing their careers.
The commissioner also briefed them on the governor’s achievements in infrastructure and road construction across the state, and expressed appreciation for their visit and for bringing developmental ideas to the table.

Bambose; GAPOSA SUG President, Comr. Bukunmi Timothy Akinpelu; AAP President, Gilbert Agbolade; and representative of OSPOHAS Ilese SUG President, Comr. Afeez Sulaimon Adegbena, among others.
