The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has said his movement with Rabiu Kwankwaso will not give money to party agents to induce voters during the 2027 general elections.
Obi made the statement on Monday while answering questions at a town hall meeting in Sokoto.
The former Anambra State governor described the practice of giving money to voters on election day as vote-buying, saying it was one of the factors contributing to persistent poverty in Nigeria.

“We are not ready to give money to party agents to entice voters. That is vote-buying, and it is part of the reason why poverty continues to rise in the country,” Obi said.
The presidential hopeful assured that adequate security arrangements would be made to protect voters and ensure that votes were properly counted and recorded.
Obi was accompanied by his running mate, Rabi’u Kwankwaso.
